Without the good work of the guardians at Decisions in Care, I don’t know what I would have done. I live in Concord, NC, and I’m disabled. I was not able to travel to Albuquerque to help my mother deal with her end-of-life care.

Mom was alone after my father died.

We were fortunate that the company helped. I put them on a pedestal. If it was not for them, and their professionalism, I don’t know what I would have done.

Mom’s guardian, Robert Padilla, basically took care of my mother. My mother adored him. Robert and I became close. He didn’t just take care of my mother, he took care of me, also. I didn’t know about dementia. He does. If he wasn’t there, I wouldn’t have known what to do. I could call him 24 hours a day.

I’m 3,000 miles away, and I know my mom drove Robert crazy. She was a hard patient for several years.

But mom never forgot about me. Robert had her call me, and the last words she told me were, “I love you, I love you, I love you,” that was so touching. I thank Robert for that.

Thank you

My cousin and I live in Texas. We were appointed conservator and guardian for an elderly aunt in Albuquerque who was unable to care for herself and had no other closer relatives. Needless to say, overseeing personal care and a substantial estate from that far away was impossible. I was only able to travel to Albuquerque about once a month, and my cousin even less frequently. Decisions in Care assisted us by providing monitoring of her care and regular reports to us. They provided transportation, a companion, and assistance for medical visits and consultations in the facility where my aunt was living. One really important aspect of the assistance they provided was that a single individual was the one who monitored my aunt, so that he was totally familiar with her circumstances and needs. We were extremely thankful for the service that Decisions in Care provided.

Thank you for the help you have provided for my sister and her husband. We had no experience dealing with dementia. The support you gave made an enormous difference. Helping us to navigate the Medicaid system and helping place her took a lot of our stress away. I don’t know what we would have done without you.

It is with great appreciation that I write this letter. Three years ago my wife was acting strange and forgetting who I was. You helped me discover she was in the first stages of dementia. You helped me as her progression got worse and helped me find doctors and services which helped tremendously in my becoming a caretaker for three years. Thank you for being there for me; I could not have done it without the information you provided.
